Retainers

Unlock Your Forever Smile

After all of the hard work you put into your beautiful new smile, you’ll want it to last a lifetime! That’s where your retainers come in.

What does a retainer do?
Teeth have a natural tendency to shift throughout life, and without the support of your retainers, that’s exactly what they’ll do. Wearing your retainers consistently is necessary for holding your teeth in their new positions and preserving your smile’s beautiful new alignment for decades to come.

Our Retainer Bundle Program

Your retainers are in it for the long haul with you, and that means they’re susceptible to life’s mishaps: getting lost, broken, worn down, or ending up in your pup’s mouth! (Pets love retainers.)

Your first set of retainers is included in your treatment cost, but if you lose or damage your retainers, there will be a replacement fee.

That’s why we created the Retainer Bundle Program — your peace-of-mind solution for protecting your investment and maintaining your beautiful smile for years to come. Our Retainer Bundle Program ensures that if you lose your retainers, you’ll have a back-up on hand and won’t have to stress about ordering replacement retainers or paying full price.

Types of Retainers

There are two types of retainers, removable retainers and fixed retainers.

Removable retainers

are made of transparent high-quality plastic, similar to clear aligners. Clear retainers are custom-designed to fit your teeth snugly, and they come in sets, with one retainer for the top teeth and one for the bottom. These retainers can be taken out, cleaned, soaked and placed back in as needed.

Fixed retainers

or permanent retainers, are bonded (glued) to your teeth and cannot be removed without your orthodontist. These retainers include a small metal wire, custom-designed to fit behind the teeth. They’re generally bonded to the back surface of the bottom teeth, but can also be used behind the top teeth depending on your case.

How much does a retainer cost?

As you now know, your initial set of retainers will be included in your orthodontic treatment cost, but if you happen to lose or break your retainer, there will be a replacement fee. This is what makes our Retainer Bundle Program so valuable.

With our program, you’ll be saving $200 on your replacement retainers cost.

If your retainers get lost or broken and you don’t have back-up retainers through our program, it’s important that you reach out to us as soon as possible for replacements. You don’t want your teeth to shift out of place and jeopardize your hard work throughout treatment.

Retainer Care: How to Clean Your Retainers

Cleaning your retainers daily is key to keeping them bacteria-free, smell-free and stain-free! When cleaning them, never use hot water, and never put them in the dishwasher. This will melt your retainers and make them ineffective.

If you had Invisalign® or Spark™, you already know how to clean clear retainers! Here’s how to do it:

Step 1:

Start by taking your retainers out of your mouth, and rinsing them with lukewarm water to remove any debris.

Step 2:

Using a new, soft-bristled toothbrush (not your main toothbrush) and a mild, antibacterial soap, gently brush your retainers under lukewarm water. Make sure you clean the inside and outside of both retainers.

Step 3:

Rinse all of the soap off, give your retainer case a quick rinse, and place your retainers back in your case.

Step 4:

Repeat the next morning after taking your retainers out of your mouth again.

Step 5:

Soak your retainers once or twice a week in a designated retainer-cleaning solution. You can also create a homemade solution with one teaspoon of baking soda in a cup of lukewarm water and soak your retainers for 15 to 30 minutes, then gently brush them with your toothbrush, rinse and store them back in your clean retainer case.
